We woke about 7am, showered, packed and headed for breakfast. We were given a bread roll, a croissant and peach jam. It's free so I shouldn't knock it but I really just want some weetabix or a bowl of branflakes. I'm near my limit with bread and pasta. After we'd eat we checked out and sat in reception waiting for our bus. It was supposed to come at 8:30; by 9 when it still hadn't arrived I emailed the tour group, they were running late. An hour later we were on the bus heading to Iguazu falls. We paid our 170pesos entrance fee and headed inside for the train. The tour guide lead the way. The train was almost full when we got there so we were separated and had to squeeze in the different carriages. The train took us through the jungle/Forrest and all of a sudden there were loads of butterflies. They flew along with the train. One even took a cheeky dive in my cabin and nearly licked my face (I nearly eat it because I was mid way between saying wow). The train journey was only short. Before we knew it we were off and heading for the devils throat. There's a boardwalk taking us across the river on top of the huge waterfall. It looked amazing and it really is massive. We both went a little bit giddy. I asked a man if he would take our picture. I think he wanted to be a professional photographer because he started moving around to get the best angle then he started going on about the lighting. By the the time he'd took the pic he was happy with me and Lee looked special because we were trying to hide our laughter.
The guide took us back to the train stop where we jumped back on and headed to a different part of the waterfall. All along this path were signs saying there were snakes, monkeys and coaties. The guide told us the monkeys and rat like things have rabies so steer clear! I didn't see monkeys or snakes but there were loads of the coaties. The butterflies were in the trees too and colourful birds. Platforms along this walk show different sides to the waterfall and every angle had a new rainbow. It felt like we were walking through a magical land. I was smiling like a really happy person the whole way around. Once we'd done the loop we stopped in a food area for lunch. Me and lee pulled out our cheese and ham sandwiches and chilled out in the sun on the grass as we eat them. The guide came and got us after half an hour and lead us to the bottom part of the fall. This felt like we were walking through a fine mist constantly. When we got to the end of the walk it was practically under the fall. The spray back was strong from where I stood (a good 20 meters from the end) lee went right to the end. He said it was a little bit scary because of the noise from the waterfall.
We had booked onto a boat trip to the bottom of the falls for 150 pesos (we had exactly 300 pesos left so it worked out perfectly) we headed down to the water. We were given a life jacket then pointed in the direction of the speed boat. The boat took us under a rainbow then spun around and drove us straight into the falls. We didn't go under (it would be like a truck falling on you if you actually went under the falls) but they took us so close that we couldn't open our eyes and were soaking wet through by the end of the trip. It was brilliant. Another magical experience being right in the middle of a rainbow and beautiful waterfalls.
We all trudged back to the bus and headed for Brazil. 20 minutes later we were at our hostel and checked into our room. We didn't have any Brazilian money so we had to head out to the town. After a few attempts at different banks we managed to find a bank that would give us money. We headed straight back, got a shower and went bed.
