After leaving Gatwick at 9.30 am on Sat 28th November, we finally arrived in Bangkok at 7am on Sun 29th Nov...our first destination (Woohoo, let the holiday begin!).
As we stepped out the airport we were met by 28deg and glorious blue sunshine...what more could we ask for. But that was only the beginning...
Hotel - nice (basic but livable for one night)
Chatuchack Market - amazing! 6000 stall of all sorts, so made a few purchases, one of which I lost along the way (my fake Prada sunglasses!). We were slightly worried at the beginning as we started from the 'Pet' side of the market, so wondered through hundreds of aquarium/pet stalls which were slightly scary, with smells I cannot begin to describe!
Beer Garden - decided to have one drink before heading back to the hotel for the eve but it landed up being 3 jugs later Lol (Live music was great - some local stuff and some REM and U2 which was brilliant!)
Tuk-Tuk - awsome way to see the city sights (visited all the different budda statues and some other bits) but one of the stops which we thought was a big shopping complex was actually a suit tailor store. These Tuk-Tuk drivers obviously get commision if you buy something - anyway, it landed up being a good stop as Andre bought a suit which we'll collect at the end of our trip (they measure you up in about 5 mins and you get to choose your own fabric and lining - it's just amazing!)
Then off to Cambodia for 5 days...
