Knowing Kuta (our first point of call in Bali) is a lively place we started early and ordered a couple of bottles of wine on the plane, free booze! We'd met up with Zak at the airport which was nice and caught up on the previous weeks antics. With the wine taking affect we deboarded the plane, flagged down a cab and was on our merry way. When we checked into our very posh hotel there was no sign of life at all and we started having second thoughts about going out, but despite it being nearly 1am we decided to go in search of the nightlife. Our first stop was Paddy's where there was a severe lack of people, so after a drink in there we moved onto a bustling bar opposite which appeared to be entertaining some scary looking locals, deciding to give that one a miss we headed to Bounty Discotheque where everyone seemed to be hiding, including the cute American from Ko Phangan who we happened to bump into. We finished the night off with a good old boogie.
The next day was spent wandering around the town and the shops (including some western favourites such as Addidas, Quicksilver and Ralph Lauren). Our first point of call was the supermarket to buy some umbrellas due to the heavy downpour that greeted us that morning, and typically as soon as we stepped back outside it had stopped! Leanna went in search of a beauty salon where she had another interesting Brazillian, this time apparently it was a 2 man job?? And Nikki opted for another pedicure and foot scrub, but not before she had bought a fresh new pair of flipflops to replace her old smelly ones!
We were back out on the town that night and again started early on a bottle of vodka back at the room. With a restaurant already in mind (for a change) we headed out early and ordered some Long Island Ice Teas. Dinner was very flash as Nikki's Chicken Saatay was served on a mini BBQ, which she was quite tempted to buy. After the restaurant we started the 10 minute walk toward the tiny strip of bars, all was fine until the heavens opened as we were 100m from our destination! Not wanting to ruin our hair and makeup efforts we hailed a taxi and spent the next 20 mins in traffic on the one-way system, a journey which could've taken us 1 minute! We went back to Paddy's to start with and got chatting to some Aussies, Jamie, Kurt and Matt. A few more Long Island Iced Teas later and we were dancing in a pool of water and foam, but ran off screaming (very girlishly) when someone splashed us and made us soaking wet. We thought the stage would be a safer option and along with the Aussies danced away until Nikki suddenly had a hair full of beer, thanks to the lovely Matt, and spent the next 20 mins drying it off in the toilets, with the help of a very sweet toilet attendant. After this we moved onto Bounty and thought dancing in a cage in the air would be alot more fun, although very squishy and hot with 4 of us in it! After more dancing the club finally closed and the Aussies walked us home.
We moved to a different hotel the next day and went in search for the beach. First we decided to take up the Aussies offer to use their pool, but when we got there we had another very girly moment and ran away! We bumped into Zak on the beach and chilled out with him for a while before heading off for some lunch. The beach wasn't as gorgeous as we were expecting (certainly no Bounty advert) and instead was littered with piles of debris and twigs, inspiring us to go in search of beautiful beaches the next day. Tea and scones in Starbucks finshed off the afternoon. Not feeling up to another heavy night on the tiles, we opted for a late dinner and drink and once again bumped into the cute American, Leanna then 'conveniently' changed her mind and decided to stay out, but not before walking Nikki back first! :)
Feeling very tired the next day, like true professionals we packed up our things and was ready to move on.
