Bonjour everyone from Paris

Well Paris is everything I imagined & more except for the freezing cold & rain.

We arrived on Wednesday afternoon after long flights each so were both pretty tired but I was absolutely amazed that as I stepped out of Charles de Gaulle airport that any French I thought I knew completely vanished!! At the taxi queue when the man asked 'combien?' & I knew he meant how many taxis I could only put my finger up for 1!! I couldn't even remember 'un'. I put it down to tiredness & of course I soon realised that nearly everyone speaks great English. The Parisians seem to have a foreigner radar because even before I could stumble any French they were speaking to me in English. Thank goodness I decided.

Our first few days were absolutely miserable weather wise. Freezing cold & raining. We braved it though & did the sightseeing thing but it definately wasn't pleasant. For all my French class friends we did Notre Dame, The Pantheon, Arc de Triomphe - did the Hop on hop off bus, caught the subway to the markets out at Saint-Ouen & did the shops at Galleries Lafayette - what a cool building. Also, went to Moulin Rouge which was great & I'm pleased I went. but probably wouldn't rave about it.
Sooo....yesterday to get out of the rain we took ourselves off on a day tour to the region of Champagne where we went to Mumm champayne house in Reims & also visited the cathedral there then to Moet & Chandon champagne house in Epernay. Couldn't have found a better way to spend a rainy day!!It was excellent & I am definately a Moet girl now!!

It has been our last day in Paris today Easter Monday & also Amy's birthday & the rain has stopped so I have now seen Paris in semi sunlight. We did a lot of walking today & got photos of things I had missed but also fossicked around the Latin Quarter which I loved.We are off on a boat cruise along the Seine tonight & then it will be au revoir to Paris and Hola to San Sebastian!!
