Hello all, we made it here!!!

After an ace flight, we arrived at narita airport in tokyo to a waiting 50 strong paparazzi crowd taking hundreds of photos as we walked through! At first we thought "why us?" then we quickly realised it wasnt us they were interested in, behind us followed a famous japanese footballer called shunsuke nakamura who you gents may know plays for celtic. So that was quite a welcoming we must say!

Hostel is lovely, though we did get a tiny bit lost finding it. NOTHING in minowa (where we are staying) is in english, the roads dont even have names so you have to count the sets of traffic lights in order to find where you want to go! It didnt take us long to establish that our backpacks are too heavy so we will be visiting the post office tomorrow to ship a bunch of our belongings back home. The hairdryer and 5 cans of batiste was worth a try, but bunging the lot on Dave didnt quite work!

We are approx 9 hrs in front of you, havent slept since yesterday so pretty shattered! After we had checked in we took a wander into asakusa and had our first traditional japanese meal, it was delicious but there was definately and eye ball in the ramon somewhere (or could have been an egg...?).

People are unbelievably friendly and polite. Especially one shopkeeper that couldnt apologise enough that he didnt have the right size bag for our needs "So, so sowy, weally so so so sowy!"

Off to get some sleep now but theres a couple of bulldozers going hell for leather next door so thatll be some task. No doubt theyll finish at 12am and start again tomorrow morning at 4! We are off to hire some bikes tomorrow and check out the beautiful temples and shrines surrounding us.
