Rose early with a slight sadness in the air. Showered and packed my bags and went downstairs to find Maria Angela in the kitchen. We chatted for a while about cooking (she is a great cook) and she told me about a recipe for potato and pumpkin gnocchi with duck sauce. Sounds great, and I might try them at home. She offered me an Italian cookbook that was huge, but I could not accept it as it weighed a tonne!
We had breakfast and remincised some more before saying our goodbyes and hitting the road to Padova at about 9.00am.
We drove for about an hour and a half until we reached Zia Emanuela's house. We changed our bags into Cousin Mario's car and then drove to the restaurant. It was a strange sensation with all the cousins that I had never met, or had met 43 years ago. There were: Zio Pinot & Zia Tarciscia, Zia Emanuela, Mario, his wife Laura, children Francesca and Roberto, his wife Roberta and baby son Dario, Paolino and his wife and two children Alessandra and Mauro. Then the Milanese cousins, Gabriela, Alessandro and Mauro and Roberta. We had a feast of antipasto, taglatelle, risotto, roast veal and vegetables finished with an apple sorbet. Beautiful food and good company. Lots of photos taken particularly of the four brothers and sisters. We finished at about 4.00 pm and went back to Emanuela's house. A good day, with great news that Mauro and Roberta are getting married and coming to Australia in 2013.
We finished by going back to the hotel about 9.00pm and stopping in for a
Kebab from a small place down to road. Turned in at about 10.00pm.
