Ah the Baz Bus, oh how I adore it..... does anyone sense a hint of sarcasm there when I say that!!! Lets just say that after only a handful of trips on this bus I had a bit of a good idea of what lay ahead. Luckily we had met a fairly good group of people which goes a long way in helping make the trip more bearable. You dont mind so much being in such close bodily contact with someone you at least know the name of because I am not exaggerating when I say that these buses are like sardine boxes and considering the distances they cover it is not gret but anyway it gets me from a to b so I cannot really complain.
Anyhow back to the point in hand Sorms River, a small village home to the worlds highest bungee jump. Not the longest that I believe is in New Zealand. Yes fools come here to launch themsleves off a 216m high bridge on the end of a piece of elastic plummeting towards the river only to be catapaulted back into the air to experience it all over again, and again. Im sure it is lots of fun but my physiotherapy background prevents me from doing such an activity.
So basically Storms River is a place where people stop to get their adrensaline fix. I have to say on this particular occasion I did not join in the festivities. I was going to go into Tsitsikamma National Park but my poor friend Adele got sick so I stayed with her instead, oh well maybe next time, it is meant to be a cool place with a five day walking trail which I believe you have to book on because it is very popular although you can just walk parts of it which is hat most people do and there are waterfalls on the way.
My day at Storms River was just spent lounging about in a hammok. Whoever invented hammocks are pure genius it was really quite relaxing. I also mustered up the energy from somewhere to walk into th village and play an awesome game of volleyball. I am not too shy to say I was on form with my killer serve, it was so much fun I love volleyball.
Anyhow the time came for the Baz Bus to pick us up and my gosh had I underestimated it, it was actually on time whoever would have thought it. Our next destination was Jefferys Bay, approximately 3 hours down the road.
I pitied the poor bus driver named Zooks as I jumped in the front. Because it was quite late everyone else was sleeping and as usual I was wide awake so I spent the next few hours chewing his ear asking questions about his life etc. It was very interesting to find out how life is and was for locals, as a tourist I think sometimes you are so busy having a great time throwing yourself off a bridge or out of a plane or launching yourself off a rock into the waterfalls you forget to open your eyes and see the people and culture of the country you are in.
