Lush Life
It's all been going down here this week.
Started work last Monday, and didn't really enjoy it all that much to be honest, which was probably a good thing cos on Friday I got sacked! haha Absolutely hysterical! I instantly thought, now that's something to write about in my journal. So as you do I went out (with Nads) and got very drunk, and just had an enjoyable night drinking and pondering my next move.
So, I could have gone around Darwin handing out the cv's and trying to find a new job (and place to live) but decided that was all a bit too ordinary (and boring), so I'm b*****ing off down the west coast of Australia instead.
I go with a couple (Amanda and Mike) from the UK who put up a poster offering the lift in exchange for shared petrol costs. And I met up with them today, and it was all a bit freaky cos the other day when me and Nad were in the middle of the outback we met this young couple who live in Newquay back home and who know someone who I worked with when I spent my summer there a few years ago. And then I turned up to meet with Amanda and Mike today, and that other couple were sat with them! Turns out they're all friends from back home. Wierd!
But anyway, we leave tomorrow, and I can't wait, I'm ready to leave Darwin now. We'll be in Perth in time for the World Cup (come on) and all is generally good. We've just been out together down the local pub, for a game of bingo. You know how it is...you can't keep a good bingo'er down for long, they'll seek it out the world over! I won 2 free drinks....such talent!
Today I did the touristy thing...lazed by the pool and then went to Aquascene, a fish feeding place. It was great, all these really huge fish come into the marina everyday for their share of 'homebrand' bread. I'm no stranger to feeding fish bread, infact, I see myself as a bit of a pro, but these fish were huge, bigger than any from my previous encounters. Fortunately though they are vegetarians, and so have no teeth, cos I went straight in for the kill feeding the biggest juiciest ones, and one of them nearly swallowed my fist! Could have been nasty had he a gob full of teethypegs.
Me and Nads decided that we would sell the car as she's staying on here in Darwin, so now we don't need it, and so we put signs up in it yesterday, and then today it sold!!! Come on Bruce (our cars name)! Brucey's price was obviously right! Couldn't believe it though, such luck!
And for even more news...I've decided to come home on August 28th. It was my original flight home (you have to give a provisional date to fly back, even though you're able to change it) and now that I'm moving on from Darwin, and will have travelled the west coast in a few weeks time, I feel like there's nothing really keeping me here anymore.
I've had an amazing time, and will continue to have, as I still have 3 months here and loads that I want to see, but I've done what I came here to do, fulfilled the dream and all that, and now it's my time to go back home and settle. (Well, at least until next summer, haha).
So, that's it from me and the Northern Territory....next time we speak I'll be in Western Australia!
I have a new mobile aswell, so I'll email you all the number.
