I'm sick today :( which is why instead of going out I'm sitting in writing this blog and watching the most recent episode of Glee.
Went to the Blue Mountains for a full day last week, we hired a car and drove up there, ended up costing about a third of the price that a Tour would cost and so much better.
We randomly drove to a spot called Wentworth Falls, mostly due to the fact it was lunchtime and they had a picnic spot. Had out lunch and decided to check the place out.
What we thought was a leisurely stroll turned into a 4 hour trek, with thousands of steps, and was recommended for "experienced bushwalkers", I kid you not. It was damn awesome though, some of the things we saw were breathtaking. Massive cliff faces, with waterfalls and pools everywhere. I was amazing, had such a brilliant day, needless to say we deserved our Domino's pizzas and an early night.
It's almost Christmas! and what a packed calender we have. The hostel has arranged a harbour cruise on our own private 2 stories tall yacht, which will be awesome, though I can definitely see someone being thrown into the harbour at some point. Christmas Day is a mini festival on Bondi called Sunburnt, and then New Year is probably the fireworks over the harbour.
I'm really looking forward to it and yet dreading it at the same time. I move out of Harbour City, where I'm staying now on Tuesday, and staying at the opposite side of the city. It will be nice for a change but it will be a hell of a lot of effort to come back here to see all our friends.
Which leads me onto the 2nd reason I'm dreading the next few weeks, there's about 10 of us who regularly hang out, 4 of which are Swedish girls and are some of the best people I've ever met. Particularly the middle girl in the front row of the pic at the top of this page, Julia, I'm fairly sure we'll be very good friends for the rest of our lives. We've already got plans to go spend a week or so in Gothemberg in Sweden when we get back home.
Anyway, they're leaving on the 4th of January to go travelling the East Coast and New Zealand and then they're going back home. We've spent the last 3 months together and its going to be awful when they leave, there will be a hell of a lot of tears all round for sure.
Its weird because before I came out here I thought that you'd meet some cool people and stuff but wouldn't really get really good friends with anyone because well we're travelling and people come and go. After being here for the last 3 months not only is it going to be awful seeing them leave, but when it comes to our turn to leave Sydney it's going to be extremely difficult. Dreading it.
Anyway, I've seen the snow you guys have been having, and just wanted to let you know that I'm a bit undecided about the whole thing. The weather is amazing here at the moment, 30 degrees and beautiful sunny skies, but it just doesn't feel like Christmas at all, infact most of the time I forget it's next week and get a shock everytime I realise its getting closer and closer.
I hope everyone has a very Happy Christmas and a brilliant New Year.
I know we will :D
