Today was supposed to be quite a chilled day, getting passport photos for Shane and taking our visas to the office for them to sort, however this wasn't really the case! Finding somewhere for Shane to get his photos took about an hour and a half, as we just couldn't seem to find one of the photo shops that are supposed to be all over the old town! This did mean we got to walk around and see quite a bit, including a Buddhist procession which was quite cool to watch!
Eventually we found somewhere and got a bit confused about what size, but figured passport size would be fine and would match the photos I have. With this done we headed down to the office we had found yesterday to sort out our visas. When we went in we were told that the guy wasn't in today and would be in on Monday. As this is the day we need our visas doing we tried to explain this and he girl eventually got him on the phone. I double checked the price with him and he explained to the girl what we needed doing and she set off photocopying all the documents. With everything in order she bought over the invoice, which was charging us double what we had expected. Another phone call finally clarified the price which rather than 2000 baht for everything as he had seemed to say, it was actually a 2000baht fee on top of the visa fee. Feeling stressed we explained that this was far more than we had expected to pay and that we would do it ourselves. At this point I wasn't feeling in a great mood, so we went to get a coffee and then headed back to chill out. Having another look into sorting the visa ourselves we also realised that the photos were the only wrong size so we would have to pay more for both of us to get some done! Staying in Thailand for longer is not very easy to do so far!
Once we had cooled down and had a bit of quiet time we went back out and decided to visit the art in paradise gallery. This is an art gallery full of 3d paintings. This made it really fun as you could go and stand in the work and get really cool photos! We spent about an hour wondering around and taking loads of photos before heading back to get ready for the evening, which involved food and more looking around the massive night market!
We also booked our trip for tomorrow to see the elephants which we are both really looking forward to after the stressful visa day!
