Today we got a tuk tuk into town for our bus to Chiang Mai. We got in a bit early so we could grab some breakfast and then got on our bus at 9.15. The journey wasn't too bad and we arrived around 1ish.
Another tuk tuk and we arrived at our hotel. It is quite a quirky place, which also advertises itself as a museum. Every inch of the place is full of old memorabilia, particularly related to coca cola!
We went for a walk into town to get our bearings, heading into the old part. We didn't have a proper look as we want to make a day of exploring the old town but we did find a visa office. As our timings have been out we will be overstaying our current visa so will have to extend it. We had been planning on doing this ourself but thought we would just check to see how much it would be to get someone else to do it. I was expecting it to be ridiculously expensive so when he quoted us 200baht, about £4, on top of the standard price we would have to pay anyway we decided to go for it! That is probably how much it would cost is to get a taxi to the immigration office anyway! It also means we get another free day in Chiang Mai as we don't have to spend it in immigration! We are heading back tomorrow to get another photo for Shane and to sort out the documents.
After a chill in the room we headed out to see the night market. This was incredible! It is huge and just seems to go on forever! We had some food in one of the food markets and then looked around the stalls. I got some new flip flops as mine broke in Ho Chi Minh and Shane got a t shirt to replace one of his old dirty looking ones! We spent our evening around the night market before heading back.
