Today we were checked out and in town by 8, ready to make our way to Battambang!
Once we had been taken to the place our bus was leaving from and waited for it to arrive it was almost 9 and we then made our way to Phnom Penh. This took 3 hours so it was about 12 when we arrived to change buses. The guy at the office put us in a tuk tuk to take us to the bus for Battambang. When we were dropped off we realised that it was going to be a local bus and probably a repeat of our Poipet to Phnom Penh experience. After a by of people watching the bus turned up at 1.30 to be loaded with load of random stuff including a motorbike! We finally boarded and headed off around 2, where we got stuck in traffic, stopped and waited for two people to arrive on bike who had missed the bus and watch attempts to fix various wiring! This meant it took over an hour to leave Phnom Penh.
Once we got going we stopped a few times to pick up more people making it a very full bus, but me and Shane had secured our seats and found somewhere for one of our bags to go so it wasn't too uncomfortable.
Based on the time we were told it would take we should have arrived around half 5 but it ended up being closer to 10.
Luckily where we were dropped off a tuk tuk driver asked us where we going and only charged us $3 to get us there.
Once we had found our room, realised it was the wrong one and changed rooms we headed out to get some food as we haven't eaten anything apart from a tube of Pringles today!
We are just finishing our drinks and probably heading to bed soon, ready for our first day in Battambang!
