We arrived in Rainbow beach from Hervey Bay hoping to go to Fraser Island the next day. unfortunately the trip was full and we had to spend three nights in Rainbow Beach where there is nothing to do. eventually it was our turn to go. there were four 4x4s with eleven people on each. our car had us, four Irish girls, two Norwegian girls, a Dutch boy, a Swiss boy and a Canadian girl.
on our first day we went to Indian Head and saw some whales in the distance, unfortunately we only had half hour there as the tide started to come in so we had to get to the campsite. when we arrived we set up camp and cooked dinner of steak with potatoes. we then started drinking goon and playing drinking games. the sun sets very early on Fraser so you feel like you have been drinking for hours when it is actually 7.30pm. as we were camping on the beach there were no toilets so you had to dig a hole then bury but you couldnt go by yourself as there were dingoes about and they may bite your bum. as Lauren liked to say to you when you were going to the toilet. me and Lauren mixed the red and white goon which is a very bad idea. i was put to bed dont know by who or how but thats where i woke up. Lauren came into the tent felt sick so she opened the door, dug a hole, was sick and then buried it. she is a very responsible drunk no dingoes at our door. she then passed out as well. we were awoken to the canadian guy, Mason, being chucked into our tent as he had passed out for several hours on the beach and woke up freezing cold. after some navigation from Lauren he managed to locate his sleeping bag and slept in our tent.
the next day there were sore heads all round. we went to Eli Creek first of all and then we headed to Lake Mckenzie. the drive to Lake Mckenzie is not appropriate for people feeling hungover as it is very bumpy. the lake is lovely, freshwater and it helped the hangovers quite a lot. we spent the day relaxing with every now and then Lauren and Mason haveing a frolic. he basically picked her up and chucked her in the lake every time she dried off. we then headed to our next campsite. we started to cook our chicken stir fry when another group asked to borrow our oil. we gave it to them then a minute later they came back. turns out our dinner was cooked with fairy liquid. it was quite disgusting and i was nearly sick as i tried to eat it. on the second night me and lauren did not drink as much but we still joined in the drinking games but we had definately learnt our lesson. the night sky was amazing we saw shooting stars and all the constellations. also if you rubbed the sand it sparkled like confetti which was cool.
the next day we got the ferry back to the main land. when we returned the car we ended up being charged cos it was driven back with the wheels locked. that evening we had a reunion in our hostel room as me and Lauren were the only ones in there. the next morning we got up for free pancakes and left for Noosa
