We booked to stay on Myella farm for 3 days 2 nights. After another long greyhound bus trip we got picked up from Rockhampton about 6.30 in the mornong and arrived at the farm after an hour and half drive. When we finally arrived it was worth the drive, it looked just how i imagined Australia to look like. Our room was so nice single cosy soft beds in our own room, we haven't had that for a long time! Breakfast was cooked on an a big camp fire, we had to cook our toast on little iron rods over the fire and boil water for tea in billy cans. It was fun took longer to make everything but better conditions than some of the scummy kitchens we've been in in hostels. Every morning we got up early fed the horses and then got ready to go riding. I wrote down that i was beginner rider but feeling brave so was given a horse called Branaby he was lovely horse but i had to keep away from the over horses as he liked to kick them! Liz had a lovely more tame horse called Mustard. After lessons on how to ride we went out for long rides across the farms grounds that stretched for miles.
Whilst there i learnt how to ride a motorbike Liz for safety reasons couldn't learn to ride one.( she can't ride a bike!) I felt like giving up at first as it was hard to remeber changing gears and everything else but glad i didn't as once id mastered it i was whizzing well 35km round the farms track. As i passed the lesson i got to drive up with everyone else from the lesson to watch the sun set that evening on the farm.
Then back in time for a real home cooked dinner with meat fresh from the farm, yum we stocked up while there with the food.
Next day god my thighs ached after all that riding but had to get back on for another 2-3 hours horse ride. Saw lots of kangaroos and cattle whilst riding, had to be careful when out on the horses today as they had all 4 horses out that kick so that kept everyone alert from getting to close to one another whilst riding. In the afternoon we helped feed the horses in the meadows so whilst on the back of 4wd we threw out bundles of hay for the horses every time the horn was beeped, thatwas fun some peoples throws were pretty bad and didnt get to far from the 4wd.
We meet some really kind french people on the farm that let us stay at there house and cooked us dinner and played games when we were in Rockhampton waiting for our12pm bus. As Rochampton isn't really a nice town to be hanging around in for 6 hours. So we were really grateful.
