hi, so we are now in the capital, Kuala Lumpur (KL). the scenery here is very different again, we are in the heart of the city amongst the large skyscrapers and designer malls. on arrival at our hotel we encountered a few problems. we had to check in a night early since we opted for the bus, insted of the over-night train. our first room was nice, but the door didnt lock. we requested another room, which this time stank of smoke. third time lucky, this room was a-okay! this all took about 30 mins, going up and down 16 floors from the rooms to reception. thank goodness for lifts!
yesterday, we saw a lot of the cities attractions over the morning and afternoon, including: merdeka square, some old mosques, government buildings all towered over by the newer skyscrapers. in the afternoon, we went up KL tower which was something like 450m high. from here we saw some great views of the city from the observation deck. on purchasing the ticket, we received complimentary pony rides! just what we wanted. sadly the queue was a bit long for us.
today we went to the famous Petronas towers (in the blog picture), the bottom 6 floors are filled with designer shops and cafes. we are off to the bus station now to arrange our transport for Melaka tomorrow morning, and a last wander round the central market, mainly to enjoiy the air conditioning!
