Adelaide is a funny place, it seems a bit confused about what it wants to be, you'll walk down the street and a few buildings will be 'wild west' saloon types then you'll get a couple of Victorian buildings and then you'll get some modern buildings. It's very odd but it's got a charm to it.
We've not really done much this week to be honest, we were absolutely shattered after all the travelling so we've done a lot of chilling and watched a fair bit of Australian TV (the TV room in the hostel is lovely and warm and cosy!)
We started our weekend with an epic all day breakfast at a place called Jam - this was the first time we've treated ourselves to a proper brekkie and it was well worth it! After an afternoon nap (essential after a massive brekkie) we had a wander around the city and sussed out what was what and topped up our supplies.
Adelaide city is surrounded by a band of parkland so the following day we had a walk around some of the park and found a pretty Japanese garden, unfortunately because we're in Winter there isn't much in bloom.
On Monday we went on a tour around the Haigh's chocolate factory, the factory itself wasn't very big but the free samples were delicious and they give you a discount voucher to spend in the shop....I was literally like a kid in a candy shop, I wanted everything! In the end we bought a couple of bags of mixed chocolates and then I treated myself to some posh truffles - cafe latte, praline, creme brulee and champagne - YUMMY!!!
Tuesday it was Davie's turn and we went on a tour of the Coopers brewery, the tour was interesting but the free samples at the end of the tour were the best bit and they were so generous! We tried about 8/9 different drinks including lager, ales and stouts so we were both a little merry by the time we left!!
During the week we have also visited the wine centre (no free samples - scrounges!), the South Australian museum and Glenelg beach.
Tomorrow we are on the move again, this time to Melbourne. We have organised a lift share with some Australian's who are heading to Melbourne for the weekend. We leave at midday and should arrive in the city by 9pm. Once in Melbourne we are going to stay in a place called St Kilda which is one of Melbourne's suburbs by the seaside and we're hoping to stay for a while. It's hard work travelling all the time and we need a holiday from our holiday haha! So we're going to find some work, somewhere to live and hopefully settle for a few months....
