For the second time in 3 days, we woke up hungover after a heavy night out in St Kilda. We slept late and then had to go into the city to sort a few things out.
We caught the tram and went to a vodafone shop to top-up, as the online and telephone credit card system isn't working - very annoying! We grabbed an energy boosting smoothie at a juice bar and started walking towards the Neighbours centre in town.
At the Neighbours night we won 2 vouchers to do the tour of Ramsey Street, so we booked that for a few days time, along with 2 tickets for Mam and Dad who are arriving in Melbourne tomorrow. While we were there, I mentioned that Dr Karl had said that if we kept our tickets we could come back for the Christmas party night on 19th December, and get in free. Noone knew anything about it, and asked if he'd shouted it out while on stage (he had!). After a phonecall to someone else they said they would honour it. Apparently, Dr Karl has a habit of promising things without telling anyone! So we get to go again - yey!
We got the tram back to the hostel and laid low for a few hours. The hostel provides 'free dinner' on a Thursday, which turned out to be 2 sausages and 2 slices of bread…oh well, it was free! If we'd hung around we could have got a second helping, but we already had plans for the night. We had read about a comedy night in a small pub that has 10 comedians on each week. It's free to get in, but they ask for a donation at the end - for what you think it was worth!
We got there way too early and were the only 2 there for about an hour - we got first pick of the sofas though! It was a really good night - a mixture of amateur, experienced and pro comedians - 2 women and 2 English men amongst them! Both English men now live in Oz, and one was a Geordie! He said he went to the same school as Ross Noble, and he asked where I was from (after I cheered when he said he was from Newcastle) and when I said Chester-le-Street, he said it was a bit common! Anyway, it was a really good night with lots of laughs, and we donated $10 to the pot at the end - it was probably worth more, but we're poor travellers!
We walked back to the hostel and went straight to bed, as we have to get up and check out in the morning. Mam and Dad arrive tomorrow and we're spending 2 weeks in luxury time-share accommodation with them - woohoo!!
