This morning started with a Downtown walking tour. We have been here a few days and have not even explored the area around the hostel. Ooops :)


Quite a few people from the hostel were doing it so that was cool. the tour was good and lasted a few hours. there is a lot of history in Chicago even including the British but it didnt go well for us. Well they either killed us or sold us as slaves :(

Well its super sunny today which we were not expecting but good as we decided to catch the bus to Lincoln Park to go to the zoo. Linkin park (as in the band for those who dont know) came from around here which is amazing!

Im not sure if it has been due to our experiences in Asia with all the animals, but Chicago zoo sucked a bit. There were lots of animals but they were in tiny cages. Like the tigers were just not even moving not that they could really as there was not space. It was horrible to see :(

Tonight we were going to the Venician night the hostel were running. Chuck once again was our brilliant guide. He has so much enthusiasm for Chicago Culture.


We left really early to get a good spot on the harbour and we ended up right on the waterfront which was great. The best view! apparently there were expecting about a million people to turn up and it was probably close to that.


The night started with a boat display. Lots of decorated boats such as a Harry Potter themed one, Michael Jacksons thriller dance, Hollywood stars, Support Chicago for the Olympics etc. They were really good too see.


Then came the firework display. not your average one though as it lasted about 30 mins and i dont think any expense was spared. The most amazing fireworks to music display ever!

Some of us went for a beer on the pier after and then Chuck ended up doing a midnight tour of Boston Architecture. It was such a great way to see all the sights as no one was about and we were all having such a good time. Didnt get back till 2 am. Good night!
