Once we arrived back from the Whitsunday's Justin and I decided to stay in Airlie Beach for another three nights as we liked it so much. Most of the others we were travelling with left after one more night, as they wanted to continue travelling up the coast. Because we don't leave Cairns until mid-June we didn't really want to get there too early and wanted to spend a bit more time on the last leg of the journey. Justin and I went out for dinner that night on our own as everyone else wanted to go for an Indian (yuk!) As it was going to be the last time we saw some of the others though, and we wouldn't see the rest until Cairns, we met up for some drinks later that night. Unfortunately everyone was much too tired to stay out for long after the weekend away!
We didn't really do much for that next couple of days we were there. We just relaxed and took it easy. Most of the others left the following morning, but Chris and Leejay stayed for another night with us. We went to make some more beads during the day, at the boys request I might add, then we went out for a meal that night because Leejay was flying home and that would be the last night we would see him. We found a really nice Mexican restaurant that had an all-you-can-eat chilli special on. It was a really good place with a good bar too, and we stayed afterwards for some sangria! The next morning we met the two boys for breakfast to say a last goodbye to Leejay, and then spent he rest of the day wandering around. We went for a long walk around the waterfront to explore the parts of Airlie Beach we hadn't seen yet. We had fish and chips by the water for dinner, and then went back to the hostel for an early night as we were leaving early the next morning to go to Townsville. This is where the worst thing happened to me. I was doing up my backpack whilst packing my things, and pulled a muscle in my back. It got progressively worse throughout the night and I was in agony! It was a good job that we had bought wheels for our backpacks because there was no way I would have been able to carry it to the bus stop the next day. I had to steal a pillow from the room to use on the bus - it was awful! This was going to cause me many problems over the next few days, but I will get to that later. We arrived in Townsville later that afternoon after a 5 hour (painful) journey, and although we didn't realise it at the time it was to be our last trip on the Greyhound. Yay!
