So Shelby brought us to Byron Bay in one piece! Bryon is a little surfer town with loads of fun surfer shops and coffee shops and with a gorgeous beach!
We arrived to find oursleves a nice camp sight just out of the town and settled down to have a quiet night in the van playing cards (s***head) and catching up on diaries etc... The next morning we awoke to pee at 4.30am and Ana decided she wanted to see the sunrise so she drove us to the lighthouse while we were all asleep in the back of Shelby. The lighthouse is the most eastern point of Australia and a perfect spot for us to see the sun coming up over Byron.
So we got there and rolled out of the van, in nothing much more than undies and jumpers, not looking our best as you can imagine, to be greated by all the tour groups at the top of the hill! Anyway the sunrise was amazing even though we were half asleep! neece one! went back to bed for a few hours and then spent the rest of the day looking round town and lying on the beach! that evening we had dinner and drinks at the campsite and then went out on the town. we went to an amazing bar called the Beach Hotel where there was a fantastic live band on....after a few bottles of wine and a bit of a dance we headed to 'cheeky monkeys'....think L.A's/Majestic/Pemps!!!! It was basically full of schoolies (18 year olds)... i think we were the oldest in there! you get to dance on tables though which is always a bonus! fun times! a dirty old sweaty man kept flicking his groce long ponytail on lucy so she gave him a hairband to tie it back! always thinking!
got up the next morning (saturday 9th) at 9.45 to check out the campsite for 10! all dressed in pj's and lucy in a towel we headed somewhere for brekkie. as we were driving the boot of Shelby decided to pop open and distribute half of our s*** all over the road...including clothes and the table top! it was a picture seeing german laura and luce trying to pick it all up off the street whilst dodging traffic!
after that little mishap we headed to a place called nimbin. how the heck do we describe it! well...in 1973 the australian union of students staged an experimental aquarius festival in the nimbin valley...a total culture experience through lifestyle participation attracting scores of jaded disillusioned students and dropouts from all over the land.....we fitted in a treat. basically half the guys that went to this festival never left and it is one big weed smoking hippy town! it was like stepping into a timewarp!!!! everyone was screwed from smoking too much of the ganja!!!! hillarious!!!! we then spent 2 hours trying to find a place called Mullimbimby and finally got there and it was crap so camped the night at a beautiful campsite on the river in a town called Brunswick Heads.
Not sure where we are off to next....Shelby knows best!!!! Love to you all xxx
