On the road again.
Well sometimes bad things are not that bad. We could leave Van Horn around ten in the morning and besides that our new van is pretty bigger then the other van. Okay you still get squished on the back seat, I really don't understand why they put fourteen people on the tour in stead of thirteen! Just joking, but it is good that we have many small (Korean) girls in the group. So we had a pretty long drive to Tombstone and when we arrived we pitched our tents straight away (this time in the dark). After that we cooked a nice meal but the dishes stayed until the next morning because we went out for a drink. The campsite was just around corner of the old city and with three steps you were in the middle of the centre. Well I must say we were in the middle of the centre, besides us there was practically no one. We first went into a karaoke bar for a drink, some dancing and laughing (no I'm sorry we didn't do the singing, maybe because it was still early in the evening?). After that we walked further on to a great place. It was a kind of storage with a small homemade bar, plastic tables and chairs, nice people (exactly two visitors and the owner when we arrived) o yes and I may not forget the eco toilet outside. But they had a local rock band playing and the whole atmosphere was really great and became obviously better when we arrived. So we stayed there, took a few drinks and slept well afterwards. The next day we drove up to Betty's and Rusty's (the cowboy camp). That was in the middle of nowhere but really great. We did horse riding. I had a really sweet horse, named Misty, and amazing enough the horse was exactly doing what I wanted him to do! This wasn't the case for all the horses haha! We drove in a line through the mountains and between the cactuses and when we came back Betty was making steaks as big as I never saw them before! And they were delicious! We sat around the campfire and just enjoyed the evening. Unfortunately we needed to go the next day already. This time we drove up to Monument Valley where we stayed at the Navajo reserve. First Willie (our Navajo tour guide) gave us a tour through Monument Valley and afterwards he brought us to the Hogan where we stayed over. His son was cooking a typical Navajo meal which tasted really good and we went outside, sat around the fire and listen to Willie his stories while we were making marshmallows. Because it was really cold outside we went back in the Hogan where Willie continued his stories. After a while everyone was so tired from the whole day and the nice temperature inside that we went to sleep. This morning Willie woke us up at seven because we went out to see the sunrise. Unfortunately the sunrise wasn't that beautiful but luckily enough Monument Valley is! And at this moment we are in the Grand Canyon. We haven't seen that much, relaxed a bit at the hotel and took a nice, long, hot shower. Tomorrow we need to get up early because we are going to see the sunrise (or we attempt to again) and because we are so lucky to have the breakfast boxes in our room, breakfast will be here. So I keep it to this, I'm going to sleep and will tell later on more about the Grand Canyon!
