Jam packed day starting in Pisco with a tour of the Islas Ballestas... Kind of Peru's (MUCH) smaller version of the Galapagos islands! Was gorgeous, saw loads of birds, gulls and boobys and cormorants, Plus the massive piles of guano that they make which are collected every five years for loads of money!! Saw crabs, South American Sea Lions, and also Humbolt penguins!
After that headed for nasca, stopping off at Huacachina on the way which is an oasis in the middle of the desert famous for its activities! We did dune buggying from here... Seriously almost died the first time we came over the top of a dune and sped down it!! Like being on a rollercaoster! These buggies have to have proper roll cages and everything just in case you tip over!! Stopped off at a couple of big dunes for some sandbaording, i almost didnt do it coz was too scared... Mark was one of the first down the slopes!!I was brave in the end and went down on my front...!!
From there went to a winery which makes the famous Pisco wines, tried some, bit too strong for me, but of course I took all the samples!! Made it to Nasca where we had pachamanca for dinner, a way of cooking in a hole in the ground, heated by hot stones, in clay pots... Yum!
Next day had the flight over the famous nasca lines... Now that is Actaully the smallest plane I've ever been in... Me mark, christine and the pilot!! Can really feel the wind and small drops, it kept banking left and right to show us all the different markings in the ground... in the end I was just glad to get off... Dnt think my flying legs coped that well! Altho mark was fine! Spent the rest of the time by the pool (!!) at the hostel before our night bus to arequipa...
