We arrived in Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh city in the evening on Saturday. After being at the airport for quite a while extra (Kerry left her passport on the plane and then we didn't have any US dollars on us to pay for our visas) we got a taxi to our hostel. They had upgraded us to a private room and then we headed straight out the a night market. The traffic was horrendous and there are barely any pavements so crossing the road was so scary. We made it to some market who was quite small but we had dinner there too and then went back to the hostel and to bed as we had barely slept!
The next day we woke up late as we needed the sleep and then we spent the day planning our trip in Vietnam. We spent hours planning where to go and how we were going to get there and finally came up with a route. We booked tours for the next two days as well,in the afternoon we had lunch at a rooftop bar overlooking the city. In the evening we went to another rooftop bar called chill bar which was amazing. It was quite doc endive but the views were incredible and we were there for sunset as well! After that we went for an Indian and then went back to the hostel to go to bed as we were up early the following day.
The next day we did a city for of Ho Chi Minh and a tour to the Cu Chi tunnels. We visited the war museum which was very interesting but also very sad and also visited a temple where I lit an in sense for my grandad. The Cu Chi tunnels were great to see and experience, it was where a lot of the Vietnamese hid in the war and they were so tiny and cramped! We got to experience going through one which had been made 30% bigger but was still so hot and small I had to come out of it early as it got too much!we got back to the city, had street food and went to bed as we were up even earlier for another tour the next day!
The tour on Tuesday was to the Mekong Delta, the day was actually really fun! We rowed down the river on a rowing boat and got to wear rice paddy hats and then we visited different local islands along the river where we learnt about how thy make their honey and coconut candies. We had lunch on one of the islands and got to explore it too. We got a bus back to Ho Chi Minh in the afternoon.
The next day we got up extremely early and Cus***ic a bus to our next destination, Mui Ne.
