3 days behind schedule we arrived at Samaipata. A beautiful little village in the mountains, 3 hours from Santa Cruz. We got to stay with a Danish couple, Poul & Charlotte, who are friends of the Henrikksens. They were absolutely lovely and made us feel right at home. Their place was great too had a beautiful balcony with hammock overlooking the valley and all the comforts of a normal home. Which I guess is why they have survived in Bolivia for 10 years.
They were in a congregation, 20min away called Mairana. The brothers & sisters there were beautiful. Even though the language barrier was difficult everyone made an effort as we tried to converse.
We got to go witnessing 3 times which was a great experience. We were all partnered with local brothers & sisters who are amazing at the doors. They knew their scriptures inside out! I guess using the bible at every door helps.. If only people were the same back home! They made us do a little presentation. Felt like such a kid, they would introduce us then we would read our little presentation.. twice actually cause they didn't understand us the first time! But we had to do something to count the time ;-)
Everyone there sets such a great example! The local brothers who have to travel 3 hrs to get to the meeting, some even longer who have to leave home the day before. And the foreigners serving there who have left behind all comforts & continue there helping the brothers in so many ways.
Unfortunately we could only spend 4 days there before we had to head to La Paz. We left after the sunday meeting & it was really sad leaving. We enjoyed our time there so much!
