Hi all,
Yes Briege did get me to do something cultural/historic although now she probably knows more than me about the history and the correct events of Apartheid in South Africa as i spent most of the trip looking around while she listened intently to our guide. We left Cape Town harbour in slightly overcast conditions and thought it would be all right. Well, while we were on the island the wind picked up and the rain started to come down. We had a quick bus trip around the island before entering the prison itself and listening to our guides personal expierences on the inside before checking out the main reason for the trip, Mr. Nelson Mandela's cell and the garden in which he buried his famous manuscript.
Once we had finished looking around it was back to the boat for our 45 min boat trip home. The waves were huge and the water was coming up over the windows but after the Zambezi this seemed quite tame!
We were looking forward to our river rafting trip this weekend but because of all the rain and flooding in the Eastern Cape this has been cancelled so we've booked a house in Onrus River for the weekend to do a bit of whale watching instead.
Cheers for now
Layne & Briege
