We arrived in Delhi mainly to get visas for Thailand. Booked into hotel which turned out to be s*** with smelly water and blankets that took the heat away and left us freezing! Found some modern western style coffee shops to warm up in and wandered around, took ages to sort out Thailand, went to the embassy twice and then discovered it was easier to buy a cheap ticket from thailand to kuala Lumpa and not use the ticket (we are allowed 30 days in thai without visa...its complicated) Went to the Red Fort but it was closed and avoided getting scammed 3 times...cool! As we are coming back to Delhi we left and went to Agra. Visited the abandoned city of Fatepur Sikri which was big, clean! and beautiful. Layne has come down with the man flu now so i have to nurse him again! We visited Agra fort which was massive and really nice, would have had great views over the Taj Mahal had it not been so polluted and smoggy. Have just got back from a visit to the Taj, it was beautiful. Getting in was something else.....like a 5oo man rugby scrum. As the French president Sarkosy had visited it this morning it was closed until 2pm and as its a saturday and a public holiday there were loads of people. Considering its a world famous monument there was no queueing system, people are funneled down an ally way and have to elbow and barge to get a ticket and then elbow and barge to get in the gate (tourists pay Rs750, indians rs 20) but it was worth it, it was fab and we got some great photos!
