Day 85 Dunsbourgh to Perth.
Last day in Australia, Boo Hoo. We had a fantastic time at Ocean Vines Retreat; this was the best equipped place I have ever stayed bar none and I would recommend this to anyone. Fate certainly dictated that we should have met Trish and Klaus as not only did we find a fabulous place to stay but as Trish had been brought up in both Bali and Singapore they recommend visits and restaurants for both places but she also arranged a local driver that she knows well to pick us up from the airport. We finally left about 10ish to drive back to Perth for our last night and drove up to Bunbury where we called in to visit the Dolphin Experience. They run boats tours and a swimming encounter off shore which takes 3 hrs and only runs once a day but you can also go onto the beach and if the dolphins come into the beach which although these are totally wild creatures they do regularly and you can get into the water with them. When we first arrived we were told that none had been sighted that day and that they normally visit early in the morning, it was about 11:30 by then so we were having a look around the visitor centre when Bill noticed everyone making their way down to the beach, the dolphins had arrived! We rushed down and into to the water, sadly only up to our thighs as the shelf drops away quite badly there, but were rewarded with not one but two separate encounters with a mother and her baby swimming in to join us. They came really close in and stayed for around fifteen minutes each; a fantastic and memorable experience. After they had left we stayed on the beach for a while, me reading and catching some rays whilst Bill went for a walk. When he returned he suggested we went to the other end of the bay where the water was completely sheltered so we drove down to an almost deserted beach and swam by the rocks next to the harbour in calm crystal clear turquoise water for our last swim in Australia. Two hours later we were back in Perth at Jennifer and David's for dinner, a shower to wash all the salt and sand off and the unenviable task of packing for another flight.
So its goodbye, or hooroo to Oz, this whinging Pomme has had a ripper time down under…….
