Day 76 Port Douglas
Lazy day today and our last day in Port Douglas. We debated what to do today as the forecast was a bit on the iffy side; thought initially we might drive to Cairns as we had only driven through without really seeing the town but in the end we decided against it and went for a walk along Four Mile Beach. It was a good deal windier today so not a day for swimming in the sea even though the sun was radiating through high cloud. We were also very glad we had done the Barrier Reef when we did as the weather has not been as good since. The tide was out on the beach which made it a nice gentle walk; didn't do the full four miles but over a good half before we turned around and came back. Followed that with a stint around the front pool, there are two here, which was still in the sun and was sheltered from the wind by the beachfront foliage. Quick lunch in the apartment using up some of the food we had bought and then went back to the pool and left Bill watching the pre F1 races on the TV; not something we would normally get in the UK. He joined me later and we, well me in truth sat in the sun and read for a while until four when we both came in to watch the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. We would have liked to have actually been there but at least watching it live is something we don't get to do too often - it's on far to early in the UK! Well done Lewis, not first place but second's good.
Now having to pack and sort things out before dinner as we have a relatively early start tomorrow for our return drive to Cairns and flight to Ayres Rock....
