I try and write these blogs in chronological order but I'm struggling to control how much I like this place. I really am in paradise, the waters don't get any clearer, the sand no more pristine, the weather no better and the scenery no more spectacular. I'm on Ko Phi Phi Island in Thailand and I'm tempted to book my next flight out here for the day I get back to the UK...but at the same time I miss a few things about home...it's great to get messages from you guys and I'd love to be able to come back for just one day and then return to paradise the next but as Bill Bryson is telling me, that's not possible! I'm reading his book called a short history of almost everything and I recommend it to everyone, it explains the phenomenal size of the universe, the difficulties of understanding our own planet and the complexities of the minutely small things called atoms that keep us all alive. It's hard going but well worth it. Anyway, back to paradise...today we paid a guy £8 each to take us round the Island of Ko Phi Phi Leh (where "the beach" was filmed) on his boat and to a beach where monkeys drink beer!! We've been snorkelling, kayaking (one armed!!) and most of all we've been relaxing on the beach, eating great Thai food and drinking copious amounts of Chang (6.4% Thai Beer)!! I think the photos will show more than words so I'll leave you all to have a look but when you look at them don't feel jealous...instead think it's taken me 3 hard months of travelling Asia to find this when any one of you could book a flight out to Phuket and get a boat here tomorrow if you wanted to!! It really is a place you need to visit and won't cost you the earth, our accommodation if you can call it that is a bed in a box but it's £3 a night each!! Get a £400 flight here and chill in paradise!!I suppose I should quickly explain the last two weeks so the photos make sense! We spent 2 nights in Bangkok and went to see Thai boxing and Craig Charles make the bonds before him look like cheesy nobody actors. We then headed to Ko tao knowing the weather would be pretty bad but we thought we'd give it a go...it rained for 2 days...we went to Ko Samui...it rained for 2 more...the good news is we're British and we love a good beach so we went swimmingin thunderstorms!! Ko Samui was actually pretty cool, it's very backpacker-y and some people refuse to go but I think it was a great place with loads to do and compares to somewhere like the beaches of Barcelona but it has absolutely NOTHING on Ko Phi Phi!! We have two more nights of Chang consumption and one day of beach chilling so I'm going to leave this here and let you all look at my photos with the heating on!! Sorry, no more jokes about dreary old England I promise!!
