Kya Travels
We got up this morning and got ready then went downstairs to meet our tour group... But no one was there... We asked at the desk and were told that the meeting wasn't until 6pm that night! That's pretty annoying, cos if we'd known we probably would've gone to catch up with the French/Moroccan family after all! Damn! So we went for a walk around the streets for a while and eventually found a little shop for lunch. We got a pizza to share and a drink each which ended up costing us around the equivalent of $5 all up! We got an ice cream on the way back and picked up a 5 liter bottle of water before heading back to the hotel. We went back up to our room and watched some TV and had a snooze for a few hours. When we woke up we went back downstairs to meet the group. Only four of us were there, us and two other girls from Melbourne. We sat around chatting for a bit, then our guide, Abdul, showed up and gave us some forms to fill out, then the rest of the tour started trickling in. There ended up being 8 people, and 4 still to come. We had a meeting where Abdul went through the itinerary for the tour, which sounded amazing, but seemed to be longer than the one we'd booked... He talked about all the places we would see and how we would visit the desert and some Berber (original Moroccans) villages, and all sorts of things! At the end we realized there were two different tours combined into the one, and that we were in the shorter one so we wouldn't get to do all the cool stuff, just the cities really. So we talked to Abdul about swapping to the longer one, and if he could find out how much extra it would cost us. Two of the other tour people showed up at the end of the tour, then we all met out the front and headed down the street to a restaurant for dinner. The place was very beautiful with awesome carvings and colors all over the walls. We ordered some food and drinks and had a chat with the other people from the tour. I had a tagine again, which was even better than last night, and Darren had a chicken pastilla, which was like a pastry filled with chicken stuff. The dynamic of the group was very strange and it made us a bit nervous of how the group was going to get along... But oh well, will have to wait and see. After dinner we walked back to the hotel and stopped on the way at a cart filled with strange looking fruits. They're called Barbary Figs and are from cactus plants, and tasted almost like a papaya, but filled with these big hard seeds that were a bit difficult to crunch through. I liked it though. We got back to the hotel, said goodbye then went to our room to watch a little TV before bed.
