After our late night last night we just had a stroll around the city today, venturing a bit further out from La Candelaria. The rest of the city was alot more lively than us, every man and his dog/ llama was out cycling, walking or rollerblading! It rained heavily last night and on the way to our early morning bird watch we saw a tree which had fallen onto the electricity cables, it was sparking and smoking so we went to reception to try and tell someone but there was no one around. Rain rain and more rain!! Today was truly wet and miserable in Medellin, we were planning to do the cable car but it wouldn't have been worth it. After 10 attempts trying to ring the hostel in Rio Claro (a nature reserve on the way to Bogotá) we finally got through on a pay phone and booked a room for the night. Arriving in Medellin to 18 degrees and rain was a bit of a shock after being in Cartagena, nonetheless it was quite nice to escape the heat and mosquitoes.
