Wooo, where to begin.
Well, the trip started off without a hitch. Ate some Five Guys and Orange Leaf in Lex before going to the aiport and I was set.
You know, with the amount of traveling I have done in my 22 short years, one would think that I wouldn't get nervous about going anymore.
No. I still get terrified. Mostly I am scared that the airline is going to lose my luggage. Just saying.
Anyhow, then I made it to Chicago and waited around for a brief few hours before heading to Frankfurt, Germany. After an 8 hour flight, I then had a 12 hour layover.
Really?
I had intended to go venturing on the town but feeling disgusting and tired, that plan quickly dissolved.
It was in this Frankfurt Airport that I took my very first........... dun dun dun.... airport shower. I guess a lot of people are in transit at Frankfurt so they actually have okay facilities. They were clean but it was HOT. There was no air in the shower so immediately after cleaning myself I started sweating.
Oh, I also go sick and threw up twice. Hey, why not?
Anyhow, after that ordeal I was then on my way to Johannesburg.
Cool.
After a 10 hour flight I was here. Just like that.
And let me just tell you, the workers (security guards, taxi driver, info booth workers) are all really helpful and a tad bit too forward about it. I'm sure they were just being nice (and wanted money) but just leave me alone. I'm hateful. Sorry.
I made it to my hostel where Hostel Worker #1 (older man) told me I looked like I needed a shower. Wow, thanks. But anyhow, I ended up going a group of Indian guys there were going on a trip to the Lion Park. I saw lots of wildlife and was able to pet a baby lion. I wanted to pick it up and steal it and have it be my own personal housepet but that's frowned upon from what I hear.
So, I think my first day here was a success. I'm literally exhausted (it's 7pm right now). Also, I feel like I could make a meme about this, but I don't have the time.... Hostel Worker #2 is creeping on me. I think he's in love with my southern accent. Even though it's not THAT thick. It seems to have that effect on people. Expect New Jerseyans. Weird.
