G'day everyone!
Its been so hard to reply about what i've been doing to so many different people I thought i'd write it here and everyone can read it! Its lazy but much easier for me!! Its been 3weeks since sydney but I will fill you in from the notes in my diary!
Arrived on new years eve, met up with some of steves mates from his hostel and went to this little park with a view of the harbour bridge across the river! This tiny little park was packed with people drinking and chilling out - people jumping naked into the river and the police coming to arrest them! The fireworks were AWESOME!! Especially the ones coming off the bridge and the tops of surrounding buildings - there was a great atmosphere - best new years ever!
The next few days were spent doing some of the touristy bits, but it rained on and off which inhibited some of the plans and wasn't quite what I was expecting of aussie weather! We went down to darling harbour and into some chinese gardens there, they were pretty beautiful and we saw this really cool dragon looking lizard just standing there, I got really close to it and took a photo. The opera house and harbour bridge were cool but look better far away when you can see the whole thing! We got a ferry to Manly at night - which I recommend to get a beautiful view of the city in lights!
We went to the aquarium and zoo in circular quay where I saw kangaroos and koalas for the first time - the kangaroos where all laying down - so lazy!! And the koalas were just the cutest things ever - I LOVE THEM! Also went up the skytower to get a great panoramic view of the city! Afterwards there is an 'oz trek' experience which was quite bizarre but cool, just a random simulation thing about australia!
Because of the weather I only got to visit one beach which was a bit disappointing, went to bronte beach and although its quite small its pretty perfect, white sand clear water and good waves for surfing and most importantly - some sunshine to start working on a tan!!!
love you xxx
