This week steveo was spending a week with Johnny in Melbourne so I booked onto a tour upto sydney via canberra and a few other places!
The guide for the tour was so awesome! His name was sonic (it was a road name but I don't know his real name) and straight away he was really interactive and informative and just plain cool really!! Our first day we went hunting for roo's and he found a big mob of them including a pregnant one which was the first one i've seen - so fat!! There was also one with a joey sticking out of its pouch (its tail anyway) which looked quite bizarre but cool! Then he decided to find some roo bones he'd spotted and found quite a few, and a wombat hole and then some redbacks (scary poisonous spiders) which he was prodding with sticks which was a bit scary! On a walk that we did he caught this pretty big lizard in steve irwin style which was awesome - best tour guide i've had so far!
Met some really lovely people on the tour, It was mostly germans and english - the germans are taking over here!! The first evening I went to Oz's longest beach with some of the group where we chilled out and played some weird german games! Oh yeah - we saw some black swans along the river - weird looking and they have red beaks but cool to see them!
Day after we headed to Oz's highest mountain, kosciuszko! On the way there we passed through a town called 'seldom seen' which has a population of 2! There is one house there and it was the weirest place I have ever seen! I think only a photo will describe it (so I really will have to sort them out) but Oh my god it was weird! There were loads of rusty cars in the garden but they had been made into kind of displays and had toilet seats on them and scarecrows made of junk and I really just need to put a photo up- just freaky weird - don't go there!
We got to the mountain and I walked up most of the way with a german girl called anne. The views were pretty awesome and it was a beautiful day so we could see for miles! And there was actually a few patches of snow higher up - I didn't know they had snow here! That evening everyone just chilled out and chatted for hours, sonic arranged a few free drinks for people and taught me some stuff about photography (which I have already forgotten most of ) It was such a nice group!
Our last day we visited Canberra which is the capital! We had a tour of parliment hopuse which was quite cool and an impressive building - its's built under a hill and you can walk on the grass above it (its symbolic that they government are under the people and work for them or something) Funky building anyway! We had lunch there then continued for sydney (there isn't much else to do in Canberra).
In Oz they have the 'big things' They are just huge statue kinda things, random but cool! Anyway, we saw the Big Ram and It was cool and certainly huge! Saw the worlds biggest rocking horse in adelaide, so now I've seen 2!!
I spent australia day in sydney with a few people from the first tour - was so fun! Went to hyde park where there was music and food and old vintage cars, circular quay (with the opera house) where there were 'best dressed boats' and boat races. Then to darling harbour for fireworks in the evening. The fireworks were amazing!! Even better than new years eve - they were just so good!
I have heard nothing more about the silly tram fine so am not worried. Now off into the outback for alice springs, ayers rock and miles of desert! Hot times ahead!
