Ok so back on the Oz bus and off to our next stop which was a compulsory one - Kroombit. We really werent sure what to expect from this one as all we knew was that it was a cattle ranch??!! Stopping for a game of lawn bowls on the way didnt do much to make it less surreal but was good fun.
After driving through the bush in the middle of nowhere with only cows and kangaroos in sight we finally arrived at around 5pm. We checked into our wooden hut and sampled some of the local delicacy - We were not told what this was until after we tasted it but most of us guessed that it was in fact goat meat!! May make some of you squirm but it was pretty damn tasty!!
So then we were given our dress code for dinner - a blue bin bag! We had to be as adventurous as possible in creating our outfits and we accessorised with twigs, leaves and a touch of glitter to help us become greek goddesses! Not going to beat around the bush (pardon the pun!!) but we were definately the best!! haha. The roast beef dinner went down well and the closest thing we are going to get to one of our mummys sunday roasts for a while!
So after dinner entertainment was in the form of the hill billy 'Allan' teaching us how to crack a whip! Katie was a little too good at this for my liking but we both came away with a few red marks where we accidentally whipped ourselves!! Ouch!!!
Next challenge was the mechanical bucking bronco....after much persuasion from Katie and the 'Giggle juice' (their sparkling wine!) Jem hopped on up and tried her hand at it!! Very funny and not too awful either - one of the best girls even if I do say so myself!! Its all in the muscly legs!!!!!
Went to bed and was rudely awoken at 6am by the backfiring of a motorbike! Expecting to get back on the bus and head off we should have learnt that things are never as they seem! Katie was drawn in by the guns and had a go at clay pigeon shooting - not bad either 2 out of 5!! But awaiting for us next was a whole different story.... In groups of 3 we participated in a rodeo in which one of us (Katie) had to chase, grab and drag a goat by its horns into the centre ring, the guy in our group then had to pick it up by its legs, flip it over and lay it down!!!! Crazy!! Jem had the easy job of pretend branding its hind leg!! Phew what a way to start the day!!!!!!! Typical we came last out of all the groups after katies interesting tac tic of trying to coax the goat towards her with sweet words!! Worth a try!
Lucky enough whilst we had not signed up for the costly horse riding (budgeting well!) we got to participate in a free activity that they were testing out for the next group who will have to pay of riding a 4x4 yewt around the bush learning how the business works and taking in the wildlife and views!
