It's overcast but a humid 27 degrees outside today. The rocking of the ship we really find to be draining. I sleep ok but am still tired, and losing an hour due to time zone change doesn't help. I'm a pretty sound sleeper, so I guess I missed some action in the middle of the night.
The closet has sliding doors on it which are held closed by velcro, but apparently gravity had a bit stronger pull last night and they woke Stacey with a bang as they would open and hit the end of the track. When open, the closet light automatically comes on as well. And then the ship would sway the other way and, bang, close and shut the light off. Stacey got up and tried to put socks in the track of the doors but that wasn't going to keep them from opening and turning the light on, so she duct taped them shut with some tape that we had brought.
We wake up at 8:30 and try to watch the morning show on tv. We're still tired so we turn that off after it's done and I fall back to sleep until the captains address at noon. I'm still tired and would sleep on, but Stacey is hungry and dizzy and doesn't want to leave the room. So I make a couple of runs up to deck nine for water and cola and a salad bowl, fresh fruit and a cheeseburger and fries for us in the cabin. Stacey is feeling a bit better after that, but both don't seem to have much motivation to get moving, so I start to catch up on blogging.
We're still out in the ocean somewhere south west of Acapulco. They've turned the ship more in towards land than originally planned on their map. The ship is still rolling at 1:20 pm but it's calmed considerably since last night. We've both been wearing the acupressure seabands on our wrists hoping that it's helping. Stacey sees a ship off in the distance from out our cabin deck. Hard to tell what it is from this distance, but from the size I'd say either a large container vessel or a bulk car carrier.
Stacey is feeling sick. It's not the motion of the ship, she's got a cough and is starting to cough stuff up. It's not pretty. We decide to stay in cabin today. Don't want to share whatever she's got with other people so I go downstairs to our assigned dining room for the evening before first seating starts to let them know we won't be there and ask if they could send something to our room later. The manager on duty at the time took our room number and said that someone would call us later.
Sure enough, laying on the bed watching movies, Ismet, our server calls to check on us and see what we want. Stacey had preordered and I just thought it'd be easier to have whatever she's having. Ismet says, "No problem, I take care of you" with his Turkish accent. At 7:45pm we get a knock on the door to find Ismet with a huge tray of plates with lids for us on his shoulder. The tray barely fits through the door and is quite heavy. I gave him an extra cash tip for his trouble. I couldn't belive he came personally up to deck 7 with that heavy a tray on a rolling ship.
He had brought me a prime rib dinner, and another dish with lamb chop, plus veggies and 2 different desserts, and Stacey's salmon with extra veggies and a large salad and a huge fruit plate. The tray with just the empty plates and stainless steel lids had to have been 25-30 pounds.
After dinner we just watched movies in cabin and rested, finally falling asleep around 11pm. Ocean seems to be moving a little more. Hope it calms during the night.
Wish the weather would cooperate.
