Krys & Toni's World Adventure
Hi all!
We didn't hang around in Saigon for long after the taxi incident. Siagon was a really busy and bustling city, which was Ok for a day or two but not much longer! Before leaving we visited the War Museum, which was basically a museum about how awful the Americans were in the war, and how horribly the defoliants they spread have affected the Vietnamese people.
We decided to move onto the highlands to a place called Dalat. It was really peaceful and beautiful. A lake in the middle of the town and mountains and waterfalls round abouts. It was founded by the French and as a result also had an eiffel tower. Could have been in France really as the mountains were much cooler than the coast and had to sleep under a blanket for the first time.
Mum (Jenny), you are going to be very cross with Krys. He broke your rule of never leaving me and as a result I ended up in a river! We went to these amazing waterfalls called the Elephant Falls. After scrambling over lots of rocks Krys wanted to keep exploring but I was a bit scared so settled on a rock next to the river with a book quite happily. I dipped my toe in, but unfortunately the water was gushing and it was enough to drag me and the book in and under. I managed to swin to the edge away from the rapids and a local guide pulled me out, soaking wet in all my clothes with a soaking lonely planet book still in my hand! Was really quite funny afterwards, wasn't hurt. However, the guide that pulled me out scared me a bit when he came over and said it was a good job I could swim well as another man had done exactly the same as me the week before and drowned. Think Krys will think twice before going and exploring without me again! I seem to be the one with all the bad luck thus far- his time will come!
We're moving on to a beach resort called Nha Trang now for a bit of sun bathing and snorkelling.
Lots of love,
T and K
P.S. good tip about the jelly fish anonymous!
