Toronto is really similar to Montreal I have found. Only a few slight differences. Toronto kind of smells a little more than Montreal...and not in a good way. There's also a little more homeless people, or at least they talk to you more here than in Montreal, so you notice them more. But all in all, Toronto is pretty decent. It's been raining, or super cloudy the majority of the time I've been here, but being raised in the Pacific Northwest, I'm pretty much used to it. The only reason why I would want it to stop raining is because I want to go up the CN Tower. I could definitely go up today, but it costs a but and I want it to be clear and pretty when I do it so I'm not wasting my money. If it doesn't happen this time, I'll go up next time I'm in Toronto.
So yesterday I woke up and just started to wander around thecity. I woke up too late for the breakfast at my hostel, so I went to Starbucks, like the last blog says. I sat for a while, read the Globe and Mail, and watched people. I had been doing so weel at no Starbucks, but I was hungry when I passed it and I couldn't help myself! I really just spent the entired day just walking around downtown. Around 1:00ish I met up with Ryan and we walked where I hadn't been yet. We went to Kensington Market, which was super neat. Really multicultural and raw, I liked it a lot. We walked to this corner which has the main headquarters of Canada Trust, ScotiaBank, CIBC and another bank. We just sat in that square and thought about how much money existed in that intersection alone. Yeah, it was mind blowing. We saw the building of the College of the Arts, which is this kind of crazy building. It's built on top of another building, but above them. It's help up by these pencil looking things. Just an insane architectural structure. Toronto has its own version of Times Square called Dundas Square, which always has something goin on. Yesterday there was some festival stuff that worked with the Toronto Film Festival. Last night I stayed in and hung out with some people from Calgary. They were pretty fun and interesting. Kept my occupied at least.
Today just rained and rained and rained. So I went to the Hockey Hall of Fame, bought some souvenier shirts for people, and myself. I just hope I can pack them all in my bad. I like Toronto so far. I don't think it has overpowered Montreal, but tomorrow is my meeting at U of T, and the campus tour. But so far, if I don't get into any grad school, I'm moving to Montreal...I think. It's cheaper than Toronto. And I think employment wise, it would still be a decision between Montreal and Ottawa. Maybe Winnipeg if there are job opportunities at their legislative building, or Victoria under the same conditions. Toronto's campus and program better blow me away!
