Second stop on the tour was Isla Holbox and boy what a stop it was. I’m writing this way late so I’ll summarize with the highlights I can remember.
1 - The beaches
Holbox is a tiny, narrow island, with little infrastructure (no cars) but some of the most pristine white sand beaches. Many fewer people here and very chill vibes make it a great place to hang out for a few days.
2 - Food and Drinks
We continued the taco tour here (not surprisingly). There was a top notch food place right near the main square with some amazing cheap eats that we frequented pretty much every day. Ceviches on the beach were a close second for the favourites. We happily spent the minimum requirements for lay down chairs on big trays.
3 - Hot Corner
The best night life here (for us) happened on the street outside of a timy bar called “Hot Corner.” Buying drinks from the corner store and dancing on the street to the band and DJ was the most fun here.
4 - Bioluminescence
Unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. I was too hung over to brave the long walk to see the flamingos but on our last night we walked out to the end of the island at 3am to take a swim and watch it light up. Absolutely unreal. 100% recommend this for anyone.
We also met some awesome people! Both locals and tourists were on vacation here and super friendly. We had a blast making all kinds of friends. Overall an awesome place to spend a few days!
