Kevin, Keith, Tom, and Ryans Voyage
We arrived back in Thailand last night. Nha Trang was beautiful. The first day we went to the beach and then out for some bar hopping on the main strip. We ran into some French people, and of course the annoying prostitutes, but we avoided them. We went to a bar called the Sailors
Club, which was a blast, but we were pretty tired and did not make it out too late. The second day we rented moto bikes and cruised the city and up the coast of the South China Sea. The water, and mountains is like a blend of the Carribean and Hawaii. A simply beautiful place, with very friendly people. It was $3.50 to rent the bikes for the day, so we had alot of fun and soaked in some serious sun. That night we went out for a good dinner, then hit the Sailors Club, the most popular bar in town that is owned by some Australians. It had a great porch leading out to the beach, and even some little thatch huts on the beach. The next day we got up early and headed out for our boat tour of the area. The day started of slow, with a stop at some island aquarium and an hour or so to snorkel. Following a great lunch, we became freinds with the other people on the boat that included 3 guys from Canada, 2 girls from Finland and an older man from Brazil. Soon the Captain started passing out beers, and even had a band on the boat. Tom and 2 other people on the boat each sang songs to the bands melodys. Tom is a horrible singer, especially after a few beers in the hot sun. We then went on to another snorkling spot that turned into a floating bar trip. The captain threw out rings for everyone to float on, and swam around toasting anf giving out bottles of red wine. It was not the most appetizing wine, it tasted like vinegar and sugar, but it was free. After about a half hour a toasting and floating we made our way to a fishing village. Keith and Tom toured around with a 22 year old girl and her 8 year old sister in a round and very unstable boat. The day was packed with sun, and it was amazing to meet other world travelers our age. The girls from Finland were traveling Vietnam for 6 months!! We got back to port around 430 after our 4 island tour, and headed to the hotel for a little dip in the pool and some down time. That night we headed to the Sailors club after dinner. We ran into so many peolple. A bunch of Australians, Canadians, and even some Norwegian girls who had just graduated high school and were traveling for 5 months. It is amazing and so great how much Europeans travel in comparison to Americans. Everyone we met was impressed and somewhat shocked that Americans would come all this way, which helped them accept us more, instead of thinking we were "typical" Americans who have never left their hometown. During our late night walk home we encountered some transvestites, two of which followed us for about a block before we had to yell at them to leave. They are not around during the day so it was creapy to suddenly see one come flying up next to you. However, as with the prostitutes you just have to be firm and they leave you alone. We slept in the next morning and had some food and hung around the hotel before catching our flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Due to some monsoon rains our flight was delayed, but we made our connection down into Bangkok in time. This morning we had our final fitting for our suits, and we all are some strapping young lads. South East Asia has been an absolute blast, with no regrets and tons of fun. We are all pumped for Africa, it is going to be action packed. We have a flight tomorrow to Qatar, where we plan on checking out the city on our 9 hour layover, before our 13 hour flight to Capetown. We will update the page soon, hope you enjoy the pictures...
