So after my last blog we left on yet another night train to Surat Thani to then get a bus to Khao Sok national park with rather an eventful train journey including a fight between a Spanish couple and an English guy - to be honest I dont even know what it was about but it did wake up most of the train OOPS!!!!
Anyway back to the actual trip we arrived at the national park and went on a longtail trip across the lake which was formed from when the jungle was flooded years ago, we stopped halfway across for everyone to jump in and have a little freshen up. It would have been rude not to join in however as I am not the best swimmer I did take a long a life vest to bob along in the lake, this idea was later adjusted by Katie who created the 'lifejacket diaper' meaning you could float in the lake and have a beer in your hand at the same time - RESULT!!
After a relaxing day sunbathing and generally playing about in the water we headed to our accomodation for the evening which was one of the nicest since being here, a lovely little bungalow in the woods with a big balcony to relax in the evening. There wasnt much to do round the area some of the group came back and drank into the small hours, I should also mention that this was the night I got a record 18 bites on my back not happy.
The next day it was time for me to depart from my current travelling group and go it alone yet again on to Krabi. Now without going into too much detail this was also the day I got upset AGAIN as there was no plan and no one I knew around, that was until I met Chloe in the hostel I was staying or also happens to live half an hour from where I live back home oooooo spooky.
Whilst I was discussing and possibly boring her with my current predicament with what to do next she asked if I wanted to go to Phi Phi with her problem solved we were off to Phi Phi and booked into the same hostel departing in two days time.
Before going on our very own little girly weekend I decided to fill my time with going on a boat ride for the day visiting various beaches including where they filmed The Beach and Monkey Beach (insert a very happy me here) I also snorkelled for the very first time and saw lots of Nemos and Dories and got very sunburnt in the process!!That evening was spent at the night market sampling the local offerings for very low prices it was delicious and just what we needed before setting off the next day to the next destination.
So me and Chloe headed off to our new hostel on Phi Phi for the next two nights we arrived and it was terrible, it was in the middle of a building site, a 40 minute dark rocky walk to the main town with the dingiest room ever. The first mission of the day was to find new accomodation which we did pretty quickly considering it was high season a nice little private room in the middle of the action. As Chloe had been to Phi Phi before I officially nominated her as my tour guide for the next couple of days and first on the agenda was a girls night out perfect!! Now I need to start off by saying Phi Phi is amazing however it did kind of feel like England as in lots of English run bars serving English food to drunken English touirists...............we had a wicked time!! We started the night in an Irish bar before dancing the night away on the beach with plenty of cocktail buckets.
The next day it rained so we decided a shopping trip was in order followed by a trip to the bamboo tattoo shop to get some ideas for both of our first ever tattoos :) After deciding what we both wanted it was back to the hotel to get ready for the night ahead which we decided had to start with lots of alcohol to give us some more courage for the tattoos. We went to a Reggae bar where in the middle was a massive boxing ring members of the audience are invited up to fight in exchange for a free bucket of drink bring forward the already drunken tourists. It was hilarious to watch and just what we needed to put us at ease before getting to the tattoo shop. Now I am not going to lie those of you who know me will know I was sh***ing myself before the needle approached however once it got started I can honestly say it didnt really hurt just kind of irritated. Suffice to say Chloe and I couldnt wait to show them off and carried on the night as it had started with lots more alcohol before greasy take away on the way home woo hoo!!
The next day was time for more goodbyes as Chloe was staying on the island for another week and I was set back to the mainland for another night before heading to Samui the day after. The whole saying goodbye thing sucks although I am loving making new friends and hopefully we will meet again soon for some more island madness.
Next update will be soon when I can fill you in with Koh Samui and Phangan including Xmas and New Year where the relaxation part of my trip is set to begin bring on the tan!! :) xxxx
