Surprise, surprise the next morning I woke up late for my bus and ran around like a mad womand to get to the bus terminal only for it turn up late typical!! We then spent the next 12 hours heading to Airlie beach probably one of the worst bus journeys ever with leaky air conditioning and a very moody bus driver suffice to say I got off miserable, soaking and with a banging headache.
The next afternoon I was heading off for two night sailing the Whisundays on a boat called Habibi or 'My Darling' it was clear as we boarded this would be a party boat as the crew (Dan, Nikki and Jen) told us they had never seen so much alcohol being brough on board with loads of goon, spirits and beer to keep us through the next few days. The first day sailing took us to be moored near the main Whitsunday island as there are 74 we couldnt go to all of them. That first evening was spent with us cracking open the alcohol with some people taking full advantage of the snorkels to make snorkel drinking bongs and throwing up on board, I will add this wasnt me as I knew were getting up at 6am for our visit to the beach I set up my bed at the back of the boat with the crew and slept under the stars which wa fantastic I have never seen soooo many stars and such a clear night although I was woken up halfway through the night by Dan having a nightmare and thinking the boat was sinking lol. Bright and early the next morning we had breakfast before heading off in a much smaller rubber boat to get to the island before climbing to the lookout point for spectacular views across the island before heading down to the beach and donning really attractive (not) stinger suits and getting in the crystal clear water where sting rays swam around us. Back on the boat we got our snorkel brief and equipment before sailing to two seperate dive sites where once again I witnessed beautiful coral, fish and also panicked and swam very quickly away from rather alot of jelly fish. Our last evening was much the same of the drinking card games and another night under the stars even though I was woke up at 3am by a mini rain storm everyone ran under deck however it wsa boiling down there so I stayed up on deck as it was over 10 minutes later.
Another early morning in paradise saw us have one more snorkel before sailing back to Airlie beach arriving at 11am and given wristbands for that evenings after party with free pizza and happy hour drinking which was taken full advantage of before we heading off to play some pool where I kicked arse!! I am paying the price this morning though as I decided it was a really good idea to down pints of cider and glasses of wine with the boys #sorehead!!
It was a fantastic few days with loads of laughs, friends made and plenty of good food and drink now excuse me while I go and catch my next bus this evening another 12 hours to Hervey bay.............
