Up early again and off to Jesselton point to catch a boat over to Manuka Island. In Malay, this means Chicken Island. When I asked our tour guide why this was called Chicken Island and he said that there was no reason. Right then. There's also an island translated into Cow Island. Once again, no explanation. Were they watching Cow and Chicken?
After a lay in the not existent sun as it was so bloody cloudy, we went for a snorkel. There's plenty of coral, sea urchins, starfish and a variety of fish. As one gets close to me, I absolutely s*** myself, so not particularly confident about scuba diving in Thailand!
Back to the beach, suns out, tan time (yes mum I had cream on). Will went off for an explore, while I soaked up the Asian sun. Music on, zoned out, loving life.
Will returned resembling the image of a glowing lobster. Clearly he didn't apply sun cream. Well mum, who's the idiot now? Not me. Not only was he luminous, he also had ridiculous burn lines. I can't call them tan lines.
We headed back to mainland, and checked back into the Best Western. The one with a curtain and no window behind it. Showered and refreshed, Will slathered in aloe Vera he insists he isn't applying because he's burnt (why then?!), we relax until dinner tonight. Then an early flight to Kuala Lumpur, then Phuket, finally arriving at Koh Samui, Thailand!
