Unfortunately we were onto our last stretch in Queenstown, we have loved the place. We spent the first day sorting out pictures to send home for Christmas and sending my kindle back to get me a new one. We treated ourselves to a steak dinner, then continued the drinking to end up very drunk and indulging in a Ferburger, best burgers in the world.
I kind of wasted the next day as I was hungover to hell. Kenny did shotover jet that he had won. I did nothing all day apart from Skype home, feel sorry for myself, watched role models and had Kennys favourite Noodle canteen for dinner.
The next day we decided to be energetic and along with Laura and Nick, we climbed gondola hill for beautiful views over Queenstown. There was the opportunity for luging but we had already done that in the North Island and also downhill mountain biking but I valued my life so we gave that a miss. We got a free ride back down in the gondola then just dandered around the town afterwards. Got our bags backed up ready for tomorrow and started browsing jobs in Australia; money is certainly running low.
Today we had the long drive day to Christchurch. We said bye to Laura and Nick in Lake Tekapo. This place was absolutely beautiful; lots of lopin flowers in purple, pink, orange, yellow and the place had a star observatory so I was gutted we didn't have enough time to stay here. But we made it to Christchurch around 5pm. Stayed at Vagabonds; an interesting place with lots of video tapes and people living there. Got ourselves some food, then watched avengers. Didn't see much of Christchurch but from what we could see, we were glad not to be staying.
The next day we made our way towards Kaikora, where we stayed at Dusty lodge, which had a swimming pool, and a good kitchen area. We did a coastal walk; which took around three hours and was absolutely roasting. But saw some cool seals and saw the ocean floor from above which looked like it was covered in cracks, pretty cool. We headed back to hostel to chill. And it was onto pasta and noodles everyday a we were running outa monies :(
We were on the bus at 9am and then onto inter islander ferry back to Wellington at 1pm. We sat with Debbie and Stu, who we subsequently ending up selling our American sat nav and national parks pass to, handy for both parties and Kenny was just happy to not have to carry it around anymore.
Back to the same hostel downtown backpackers, where we spent the evening chilling with a bottle of wine.
The next day we were off onto our home from home, Taupo! It was an absolutely beautiful day and we arrived
to say bye to Felix just as he was leaving. Ross kindly gave us a free double room for the evening. We went down to the lake with Shuang, Fabue and Naoise and lay until 6.30, we could have really stayed until 8. Finally caught up with Sophie too, have missed everyone!! In the morning we said our final goodbyes, hope to see them all again soon.
The next day we made the journey back to Auckland, stopping via Rotorua and Matamata. When we arrived back, we got our free kiwi experience tshirt for having completed the activities, in other words stamping them off. Stayed at the attic, recommended by Laura and Nick and it was great. Met Tim for a drink or two as well.
