So, at the moment, we are in Ao nang, Krabi, after having spent a couple of nights in ko phi phi. not sure wether we really liked where we stayed which is in the 'tourist village' the main areas. i think if you wanted to stay somewhere a bit nicer you had to get longtail boats to different parts, and we just couldn't be bothered. it's alright if you like drinking lots (and I may add have the money to drink lots!) and buying cheap tack you can get anywhere in thailand as there are an abundance of opputunities!! however saying this we did treat ourself the first night and enjoyed a bottle of wine (or two) ending up at a beach bar watching a fire show which was quite nice. the backdrop over the horizon was amazin, you could see the eerie shapes of all the little islands and mountains. the whole day that we did spend on phi phi we went island hopping to do some snorkelling. the sea around here is crystal clear and jewel coloured. even the deep parts were really blue. as we are poor backpackers, we did it by longtail boat (twice the amount by speedboat) which was great fun anyway, especially as the other 8 people on there were a comedy, shall we say. (and thats putting it politely) they were really arrogant and stupid and kept wanting to strip off and sunbathe on the front of the boat, which the boat man kept telling them they couldn't do-probally cause its really dangerous-and they kept going back!! it does amaze me how fully grown 30 yr old can act like school kids and be so rude at the sametime. hope the boat man didn't think we were the same nationality as them!! it made up for it though when one girl almost started crying as the waves were too big how PATHETIC. unfortunately we didn't really see any coral, only a few bits. i'm starting to get a bit disheartened that we won't be able to see much whilst snorkelling!! we did see plenty of fish though and lots of monkeys. as did the other fifty million people it seemed who were all on the same trip we was on. Last night was really nice, we had a really english pie and mash for dinner and went to bed eary and watched a film in our duvets with the air con on really cold to feel like home!! (it was really random we had duvets felt we needed to take full advantage of them!!)we got outta bed early this morning and made the two hour boat trip over to krabi. nice and short! when we arrived we got harrassed by touts again. but we'd read about a really nice hotel called peace laguna and they didn't have that one on their books. so the s***es tried to put us off saying it was really expensive and miles from the beach. held my ground though and after a number of people were rude to us as we didn't need 'their' help we managed to get a taxi to take us there. it turned out the prices were as expected as was the location and its fantastic. three pools, a lake, free breakfast (shall let you know what thats like have high hopes) we have a mini bar, a balcony, its big, hot water, sky etc etc. its just lovely. and its all set in a tropical landscaped garden with the mountains as a backdrop. and the staff are mega attentive, feel main of the special!!anyway, tomorrow is my birthday and we are going horseriding in the morning, then getting our nails done, then sitting at the pool with cocktails. and then i imagine we shall get absolutely trollied. :)
