Happy New Year!
It is the last day for us here in Tasmania, all of a sudden time has gone so fast, and we are leaving already. I am going up to Sydney to spend some time with Kristine, which I am very much looking forward to. Bobby will be going up to Airlie Beach to do some exams before we head off back to Norway.
Christmas is over, and it kinda never felt like it was here. We had a nice Christmas lunch with Bobby's family on Christmas day, exchanged presents and ate nice food. In the evening, we went to a party at one of Bobby's friend's houses.
We've finally had some real summer here, for the last week, it has been sunny and quite warm most of the days. So many of the days have been spent out on the sailboat, sailing out on the river and through the channel here with Bobby's friends. It really is lovely here when the sun is out!
One day we went to the zoo, about 20 minutes away. There they had kangaroos, koala bear, wallabies, emus, wombats, Tasmanian devils, and many other not so native animals. It was a great zoo in the way that we could actually pet and feed most of the animals. It was a great way for me to see the native animals hadn't already seen in the wild. Though I was a little bit disappointed that the Tasmanian devil only wanted to sleep, so I never got to see it properly!
New Year's Eve was quite quiet for us. All of Bobby's friends went to a music festival, and we decided not to go, for many reasons, one of them being we wanted to save our money for some travelling instead. We had plans to go out on the sailboat during the evening, and watching the fireworks from the river. It would have been a beautiful view! We had a nice dinner with his parents, but as we were ready to go, a massive thunderstorm started. It was thunder and lightning and lots of rain! Needless to say, we couldn't go out on the boat. We still got a great view from the house though, because we are on the opposite side if the river, but it would have been nice to be out on the boat. It was also extremely warm, which would have been nice on the boat. It was 38 degrees at the warmest, which is definitely the warmest New Year's Eve I have ever had!
Bobby's brother Tom, gave us a Bruny Island cruise for Christmas, which we did on Saturday. Took several ferries out to the very southern point of Tasmania, and Bruny Island. We saw lots of seals lazing on the rocks and swimming in the water, and dolphins came up and swam next to the boat.
The last couple of days, we have been on a camping trip with Bobby's friends, just saying goodbye to everyone, getting ready to leave again.
We have our way home to Norway planned out now, and our plans for the next month and a half goes like this:
Wednesday January 6th: I fly to Sydney, Bobby flies to Airlie Beach
Sunday January 17th: I fly up to Airlie Beach
Wednesday January 27th: We fly out of Airlie Beach, and all the way to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Which will take a whole day. Spend Thursday in Kuala Lumpur.
Friday January 29th: Fly to Sri Lanka for 10 days. I am very excited about going here, as this will be my first time. Bobby has been there before.
Monday February 8th: Fly to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Spent 4 and a half days in Dubai.
Saturday February 13th: Fly to Oslo Gardermoen (We land at 6 am in the morning, and I am hoping it won't be too cold, coz I don't have any warm clothes!!)
That means I will see you guys in not so long, just in time for the Winter Olympics! J
