God Jul and Merry Christmas to everyone!
I haven't updated in a while, seems like it is easier to do when I don't have the internet available all the time. Perhaps also because I am still in the same place now, and am not travelling all over the place. It's Christmas very soon, and that feels strange, because I certainly don't have any Christmas spirit at the moment. Christmas for me will always be cold and white.
Since my last blog update, Bobby and I went on a road trip of Tasmania. We drove around the island and camped for a week. We mostly drove along the coast, starting with the East coast, then up north, and at last the west coast before a long drive over the mountains on the way back to Hobart.
Tasmania is not that big, so we didn't drive all the time, but had time to stop and take pictures and have a look everywhere we wanted to. Drove into small towns where there was only one shop and pub, and that was it. So many little towns with only 500 or less people living, I wonder what they do there?
We were also lucky with the weather, and had rain only one night, but that was after we got inside the tent anyways. We did some nice walks and hikes, to Wineglass Bay one of the first days. That is one of the more famous places here in Tasmania. It took and hour and a half each way to walk there, but it was worth it, and we saw cute wallabies (little kangaroos) as well. One night, we spent at Bobby's parent's friends place, out in the countryside. It was nice to have a shower and a bed for one night! I got to see some penguins too, and I was very excited about that, they have small fairy penguins here on Tasmania. All in all it was a nice little road trip, and I got to see a lot of Tasmania.
The last week, after we got back again, we've been Christmas shopping a little bit, we went out on Bobby's father's sailboat with Bobby's parents for a couple of days, and even had sun, that was great! We went sailing into a nice bay, where we spent the night. And we've been to a couple of barbecues. The Australians love their barbecues very much, and I am sure there will be plenty more!
Here, they celebrate Christmas on the 25th, so the 24th will just be a normal day, which is a little bit weird. The whole family is coming over here for lunch on the 25th, so I will experience a proper Australian Christmas. That will be interesting!
I will leave Tasmania on January 6th, and will write another update before then. In the meantime, I wish everyone a very merry Christmas, and a happy New Year!!! J
