Hi guys. Sorry for the confusing dates. Think I have it in order now. Yesterday morning was saying our farewell to Berlin and catching the train to Prague. Excited about the first class ride that lay ahead of us. Berlin was fantastic and I took lots of things away from the visit:
•Never under any circumstance buy a Berlin Card
•internet access is the most convoluted in the world. 15 digit logins at coffee shops and 10 digit passwords. Then it cuts out after 30 mins. Don't plan on too much communication when in Berlin.
• eat Italian
• every sign looks aggressive
• Women in Berlin have poor support garments! I dare you to spot a local whose breasts aren't hovering above their navels. Harsh but true! Obviously the Genie Bra has not hit German shores:)
Anyway, now to our train trip. Train arrives and all seems clear - hop on the carriage that has your seat number on it! Who would have guessed that there were 2 carriages with seats 75 & 76 on it - not us obviously:) we struggled down the aisle which was wide enough to fit a person if they walked sideways through the carriage, and finally found our seats. A well dressed man occupied seat 76! After a slightly awkward moment where we may have accused him of sitting in our seats, he explained about the next carriage. So onwards we struggled - remember most people on the train have luggage large enough to hold a years worth of wardrobe - and here we were trying to manoeuvre our way through the carriage. There were women yelling abuse , and an Asian couple who decided they had right of way over everyone else. I tell you my friends - it was anarchy, and this was 1st class. Imagine what the other poor b*****s were going through. Anyway, after much to do, we found our seats and lo and behold they were a 'let's all be best friends' 6 seater compartment!
This could be a very long 4 hour train trip! Thankfully, the company was good. 2 Aussies and an American lady and her son. Time flew as we solved the problems of the world and in no time we arrived in Prague. Now Paul, the Aussie in our cabin, took the crown from Johno when it came to Research. He had handwritten notes, print outs of web pages and page after page of useless information:) He told us about the rogue taxi drivers in Prague, the best place to buy a map and screeds of other gems. On arriving, we searched for the 'safe taxis' as described by Paul. White with Taxi written on both sides of the sign and a checkered sticker on the side of the cab. Well every taxi was yellow and he had us so paranoid that John and I decided to walk to our hotel. According to Johns amazing app which tracks your journey, we were only 1.3kms from our apartment. Well 45 minutes later, after dragging our luggage over cobbled pavements we finally found our home for the next 4 nights. Liliava 8 apartments in the old part of town. Perfect!
We explored and had a beautiful dinner with views to die for. Tomorrow is a brand new adventure. John has been taking advice on what to see and do from a blog site he found. Here's hoping whoever wrote the blog knows his stuff.
