Today we are in Croatia. Spectacular view from our balcony as the short sailed up the Croatian Coast. Our destination was Dubrovnik - but we only had 5 hours to explore. As we had previously visited the Old City in 2012, we decided to walk around areas we hadn't seen before. The ship docked quite a way from the 'wall' with it bring about an hours walk so we were happy to grab a map and see what there was to discover. We followed the water around to a beautiful peninsula in the new city - amazing homes, landscaped gardens, flashy cars and no doubt a price tag to match. We were definitely in the Potts Point part of town. The weather was warm and we really enjoyed not having to be 'dragged around' in a tour group. We have definitely had our fill of these and, touch wood, as long as we keep fit, can continue to do our own thing on our trips. Local buses, ferries and transfer you yo wherever you want yo be and at a fraction of the cost. For example, yesterday, the ship was running a shuttle bus from the terminal into the old town - cost 12.90. The local bus, the 1A, took you to the same spot for 10 'kahoonas' - around 1.50! Def worth doing your homework - thank goodness Johno is retired and can fully focus on seeking out handy travel tips. Sadly, the Croatians are still struggling to embrace the meaning of 'customer service'. Surly faces met us wherever we went, and we remembered to only ever ask 1 question - as a second could have put our lives in danger:)
Back to the ship for a cocktail around the pool, sauna and prep for dinner. Was sad to think this would be our last night, but we both felt the 7 days was just the right amount of time for us - I mean, how many days of Mojito drinking can one person take:)
