Enjoyment of a day at sea is always determined by the weather. If rainy - then indoor activities, on this ship in particular, are limited and it can be a very very long and boring day. That is of course for those of us who can't just 'relax' on the balcony and just soak up the serenity! Thankfully the sun was shining and we looked forward to a fun filled day. Brekky, gym, steam room, pool lolling, late lunch, Formula 1 car driving (johns fave part of the day ), nanna nap, happy hour at casino, pre dinner drinks, dinner , Casino, night cap and bed. During the day I even managed to read more than half of a book which I am busting to finish before the end of the cruise so I know. 'Who dun it':) Great day. A good day to also people watch - especially around the pool. I truly wish I had the body confidence of some women - there was a lady yesterday, who, to be honest I have no idea how she fits through door openings, proudly waddling around the pool in swimwear. It was so sad, but she happily sipped away on her can of fanta as she made her 4th trip to the buffet! Hubby, yes there was a partner, shook his head in disgust as she took a bee line for the desserts:) I have never seen a bigger pair of swimmers in my life! And here I was, concerned about eating the chocky on my pillow of a night!
Sun bakers also amaze me. There was a couple when we were having brekky at 9.30 baking themselves - not hat or sunnies - just prone, face to the sun . When we went for lunch at 2.30 they had seemingly not moved. Assumed someone had checked at some stage if they were still breathing, and the odd part was that they were poms. Saw them at dinner, and let's just say, they didn't require any lit candles on their table, as between them they were producing a fairly high wattage of light :)
Then there are the smokers - oh my god - is there anyone from Europe who doesn't smoke ? Thank goodness there is a smoke free area at the pool and of course no smoking inside - that is except for the Casino, our favourite nightly haunt. One day there will be a legal case I am sure from a croupier who gets lung cancer from passive smoke. It is a shocker. Thank goodness we can air our clothes on the deck and so far have not awoken with scratchy throats from inhaling fellow roulette players ciggies. Poked our head in to check out the nightly entertainment in the Platinum Theatre. The place must sit 1000 people - enormous, and the crowd was getting right into the show. Buffed men in bad vests gyrating their way around the stage, followed by an Italian girl in an ornately decorated ball gown, singing (badly may I add) some pop song which required her to slip off said vests of gyrating men and pout seductively at each one. The crowd went off, and John and I ran off:)
Feedback forms were given to us last night and John and I have made a few constructive suggestions as to how they may improve their entertainment options. Bring on the Provost Brothers I say!
Tomorrow, last day, to be spent in beautiful Dubrovnik. Sunshine forecast so looking forward to another amazing day in paradise. Xx
